Sleepy Sun - Embrace

So...we went to the show! Best I have been to, maybe ever?. Most personal and magnetic show I've ever been to. Only space for about 50 or 60 people to sit/stand around on the ground and on balconies as seen below.

Got to talk to the band for a good while after show and wish them luck on the final 6-week leg of their tour. They played in the circular space and the sound was out of this world. The neighborhood in the surrounding area most likely did not sleep with their deep classic rock bass grooves, spacey battling guitars and howling/comforting male/female vocals and harmonica fueling the outside air. Alternating loud/soft psychedelic lullabies that create a floating magic sound-carpet for you to lay on...perfect for riding to another planet where the milk and honey flow and sandwiches are aplenty. Sample video of their song Sleepy Son below:

The world needs more minds like Pogo. Somebody like this can make any ingredient taste quite nice. The Black Angels - Directions To See A Ghost (2008)

MORE

From the newer album Directions To See A Ghost (click to buy).....which is also psychedeliworthy. Once again, you are sinning if you do not play this loud enough to hurt yourself and screw up every living organism's inner peace. The music just carries you to high places, very nod-your-head-y. It's okay to blow speakers out, that's why they have new ones in the store. YIPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

The Black Angels - You On The Run
The Black Angels - Doves
The Black Angels - Mission District

+

The Black Angels - Drone (in G Sharp Minor) from their single release of Doves.

Tuesday

The Black Angels - Passover (2006)

Black Sabbath/Velvet Underground buttered bread..BUT..this is not either of them. This is the Black Angels. This is their first album.

Thick fuzz-drenched guitar/bass and drumbeats that pummel you riff after riff. Time to spread this on that sandwich meant to eat while listening to your very loud turn-to-11 playlist and take it on a road-picnic across Texas' vast open prairies, past the dry New Mexican Mountains, through the deserts of Arizona, and as you approach the Grand Canyon...turn it up even higher as you drive off the cliff into another cliff because you are blind from tears after becoming mute from screaming so loud from going deaf.

Play tracks from 'Passover':

The Black Angels - Young Men Dead
The Black Angels - The Sniper At The Gates Of Heaven
The Black Angels - Black Grease
The Black Angels - Manipulation
The Black Angels - Better Off Alone

Pogo - Wonderland

Pogo is a 19 year old sandwich enthusiast from Australia. He consumes sandwiches beyond most people's dreams while bouncing up and down on a pogo stick. Imagine coordinating all of this, which is his particular talent. On his pogo stick sandwich-trips, he travels many places including Wonderland, vast prairies, medieval England, and charlie's chocolate factory. Check out his other remixes, his last.fm page, and his free tracks. The way you do that is by slamming your pogo stick down on the following links:

Monday

Are you hungry?

You are hungry. You crave something to put your mind at ease and steady your soul. Remember there is a sandwich for everyone. The right sandwich might be different depending on the day, but it may uncover something that changes your state, if only for a brief period. As long as it makes you happy, enjoy it. Take a seat in your favorite chair, relax, and get ready to ride the wave - the highs and lows. Turn the knob and let the music fill you up.

Johnny Sketch and the Dirty Notes

Funky-Junkie; Radical BRASS solos; Toe-tappin, body-movin-to-a-groovin'; MUST SEE LIVE; The New Era of New Orleans Jam-Jazz-Funk-Rock; Time to get sketchy; Time to get dirty; Funk+Jazz+Soul+Rock = delicious

Four Johnnys and a bassist by the name of 'Busta Gnutt' formed a band about a decade ago and have transcended their music into time and space... or something like that. Members of the band have studied under the lore of legends such as George Clinton and Frank Zappa. Their style easily blends into the jazz scene of New Orleans while also bringing zip-locking freshness to the table. Try to stand still while checking them out at the Blue Nile Bar while all the fine ladies strut their stuff and 'Say Wont'cha' is playing...

Note: Hey guys, go buy their albums and support the band! Go see them when your in New Orleans. Have a great time. Their newest album, "The Big Awesome" is available on their website (see below) or on Amazon.

zZz - Running with the Beast

Cali-Happy,
The Doors'esque, A Dutch band, Partially comprehensible, Bold build-ups, Catchy riffs, Vocals with attitude

Drums, Organs, SFX, Reverb.. Repeat.. This band definitely brings their own style to the table. Their name is deluding, although other partakings involved with listening to this music may make you sleepy. Now to think about it, they kind of put you into a little trance. Get psychedelic! and make a sandwich.

Suckers - Suckers EP (2009)

Talking Heads, Animal Collective, Starlight Mints, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah all wrapped in a seemingly plain sugary glazed donut. after further inspection, you realize the bread is infused with liquid dynamite.

a very sweet tasting spread, happy music, whistles, horns, reverb, fuzzy-slow-building bliss. imagine coming home after the happiest night out and trying to make a sandwich from the fridge and all the ingredients were freshly bought that day (and expensive)...it just takes you a while to make it because you are so happy. after you make it, you explode into tiny miniature-you's and they all giggle for 500 years and scare any sad people away. Summary: such a happy EP, they create a true psychedelisandwich.

Le Loup - The Throne of the Third Heaven of the Nations' Millenium General Assembly

http://leloupmusic.net/BIRDS/index.html

Earjuice flavor: indie softronica

The Spread: apply at a lazy reflective summer picnic where the sandwiches are somewhat small yet satisfying because the wind feels good because it comes in waves, like these tracks.
